I have an NVIDIA 7300 gt and I have tried everything on this forum to get it to work. I got it to the point that some how works but when tried to run nvidia settings and save to the x org it would not let me save to the x org folder saying that I do not have permission to save. I have been working this issue for a week and stock in a very low resolution almost unworkable, because can not see some buttons. I Tried reloading 8.04, envy (right version) and others I read in this forum. I had to go back to version 7 due to this problem. Any advise would be useful. Thanks

 Re: NVIDIa Still not working

Can you change resolutions with nvidia-settings? Rather than save, click "apply".

To make changes to xorg.conf (ie, save your changes) nvidia-settings must be run as root. To do this, hit <ALT>-F2 and type in:

 kdesu nvidia-settings

It'll ask you for your password.
