    How to run 5+1 sound

    Hi,
i have ordinary sound card with 3 connectors. One for OUT one for MIC and ONE for something.
In WinXP a have a software witch say that first connector is for subbuffer second is for two front speakers and last is for back speakers.

In Kubuntu I dont know how it set to work like in Win.

    Thx for any word.

ordinary or onboard pink is mic

green is output, regular headphone jack, you'll get 2.1 at best from this usually 2.0

    blue is a line in

    for 5.1 analog you'd need

    green front
    black rear
    orange center/lfe
a second orange would be alternate center

most 5.1 systems through a pc run 3 wires out to the soundcard from the sub, and then from the sub to the rest of the speakers, in my experience any ways.

You don't have to have a soundcard for this, some mobo's come w/ an optical out, or analog, or both. My older cheaper one(mobo) just has the standard pink/green/blue.
