    Installation of SUN Java jre

    Hello,
    trying to install Sun java jre (package sun-java6-jre) I get an error.
    I try:

    sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre
    And I get:

    Err http://it.archive.ubuntu.com gutsy/multiverse sun-java6-bin 6-03-0ubuntu2
    404 Not Found [IP: 193.206.139.34 80]

    It seems the right packages aren't anymore available. How can I upgrade? Can anybody help me?

      Gutsy Gibbon is not supported anymore (it reached it's 'End Of Life' in April)...and theferore you can't refresh it's package lists, and are trying to install java package versions that aren't in the repos anymore.

      It's time to upgrade to a newer version release version, like hardy (with KDE3) or jaunty (with KDE4). Upgrading to hardy should be relatively trouble free (since it's the next version after gutsy), but if you decide to go to Jaunty, I'd recommend a clean reinstallation (depending on your skill level, of course).

          You can get the binary JRE from here (although I'm not sure how you would run it) :
