    DLNP Server

    Good day everybody,
I am trying to find a DLNP media server to install on my box.
I am trying to get communications between Gutsy & my PS3

This way once I have a media server, then I can use PS3 to play my mp3's movie's and check out pictures.

    Any suggestions?

I am not sure about installing another OS on my PS3 just yet - not sure how this effects the warranty of the thing, and it is still new.

Any help or pointers would be fantastic.

    Thanks

    Re: DLNP Server

From what I have read, it doesn't invalidate your warranty, because it appears to be using functions that the PS3 allows you to do.

I did manage to find an install guide for you and a link to the Kubuntu install CD for PS3

    Install CD

    http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/po.../7.10/release/

    A more direct link:

    http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/po...owerpc+ps3.iso

    Here is the install guide

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PlayStation_3

I can't really help you any further as I don't own a PS3, if I did, I'd certainly be doing this.

        Re: DLNP Server

I used ushare. Although it's a work in progress my PS3 could pick up the shared media. Believe it's in the standard repositories for Hardy. If you're using Gutsy then you need to add a repository.

            Re: DLNP Server

            Thank you =

UShare works like a charm - I hope the "database" that it creates when it starts up - is kept somewhere - I have 150 gigs of Mp3's and it took a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng time to index them all.

            So thank you again -

              Re: DLNP Server

This installs a DLNP server and it actually works. Sort of. It doesn't do aac files, apparently, so most of my iTunes music is unsupported.
