kmail - sync IMAP messages for offline use?

I want kmail to download all my IMAP messages so that they can be viewed offline.

    How do I do this?

You need to set up your account as cachedimap instead of imap.

      Thanks.
I have tried this, and it works OK for my needs.
I would have preferred something that automatically syncs every change, but Kmails disconnected IMAP is good enough.

Actually I'm not all that happy with imap in kmail myself. It seems to randomly break the mail filter handling and leads to some pretty unpredictable behaviour sometimes. Exponential duplication of filtered messages among other things. Still I really like kmail and I have high hopes for the post KDE4.1 versions. Akonadi is very cool technology! /JMB

I haven't had such problems myself, but I do all my filtering on the IMAP server, before kmail even sees it. That way its sorted, wherever I check it from. Also, I am testing hardy, and this version, despite the "alpha" name is quite stable.
