i'm running 7.10 with firefox 2.0.0.12 and yahoo game won't open with sun java 6 version 3why? please help me.

I have no java installed at this time

I don't understand: you have Java but you don't have Java. Do you mean that the Java plugin isn't installed?

The Yahoo games work in Firefox with Java plugin...I just played one. Please explain what you mean.

You need to have a link to libjavaplugin_oji.so in your ~/.mozilla/plugins folder. libjavaplugin_oji.so is in your new java directory (mine is in /usr/java/jre1.6.0_03/plugin/i386/ns7/).

You say you're new to Kubuntu, but I don't know if you know how to make a symbolic link. If not, the command in the terminal looks like this:

sudo ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_03/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so

If your java isn't in /usr/java then you'd change those to wherever it is. And if you're using a different java, then you'd use yours, of course.

Once you have the link, re-start Firefox. In the url address line, aboutlugins should show you a list of the plugins you have installed, now including Java.

Don't remember, but /usr/java/ does niot look like correct one... Should be more like /usr/bin/java ... or /usr/lib/jre1.6.x.x.,,,, Somewhere out there.

Don't bother, even if it was there, FF integration does not work that way on 64-bit. I posted some might-be useful links in your topic in "Help the new".

as for finding where your Java is...
if shell command

java -version

does not print Java version out, you most probably have no Java anywhere. Error message should give you package name to install.

i would love to start playing games again,then all these stupid questions will stop...

AFAIK, Java run-time environment (JRE) is not available for Debian 64-bit Linux, such as the *buntus.

Output of java -version above disagrees with that. This is geniune Sun JVM running on 64-bit kubuntu.
What your links say is that neither Sun tested their JVMs on Debian, nor provides .deb s, but no one prevents 3rd party from doing at least the firsrt.

What is not available for 64-bit Linux is java plugin, - which is related to JRE, but strictly speaking is not JRE itself.

Sorry Not really Kubuntu (or Firefox) fault
Do you really need 64-bit though? It all shoulsd work in 32-bit Linux fine.

I just have tested it, and although it won't get you ALL the Yahoo games (no Bejeveled ) and you should remember when to to open hacked/normal Firefox, it should work.
