    downgrade kernel....

    Hi all

I have a question: For various reasons I want to downgrade my kernel to version 2.6.18 on Kubuntu 7.10 (amd64).
What is the easiest way to do that?

I found a package named "kernel-package" can this package make a ubuntu kernel? I do not want a custom kernel I just want the 2.6.18 ubuntu kernel!

Or can I download from somewhere this kernel, packaged for ubuntu?

    Re: downgrade kernel....

You are posting in the 7.10 section so I imagine you want to use this kernel for Gutsy Gibbon.

When you open adept you can find all available pre-compiled kernels.
    (linux-image)
For me the selection jumps from 2.6.17-11 to 2.6.20-10 (without having 2.6.18 in the repositories).
Select the kernel you want and install it.
During the next reboot it'll be in grub menu to start up with.

Would you really want 2.16.18 you'll have to search outside of the repositories, possibly do your own compile.
