    Step-1) Right click on desktop and select Create New and then Link to Location(URL)...
    Step-2) Enter My Computer in File Name box and system:/ in Enter Link to Location(URL): box
    Step-3)Click OK and you are done ! Instantly My Computer icon appears on desktop.

    How to get Home icon on desktop
    Step-1) Right click on desktop and select Create New and then Link to Location(URL)...
    Step-2) Enter Home in File Name box and /home/UserName/ in Enter Link to Location(URL): box, replace UserName with your own user name.
    Step-3)Click OK and you are done ! Instantly Home icon appears on desktop.

    How to get Trash icon on desktop
    Step-1) Right click on desktop and select Create New and then Link to Location(URL)...
    Step-2) Enter Trash in File Name box and trash:/ in Enter Link to Location(URL): box.

    Hi,

    I made the trash icon the same way as you did.
    Yes it appears, however it doesn't work like a normal trash bin. The normal trash bin would show an empty bin icon when it is empty and will show bin with papers when it contains something.

    However the trash bin icon I made on desktop doesn't behave that way, it always show a full bin icon whether it is full or empty. Additionally there's no right click option to empty the bin.

    Does anybody know how to fix this?

      In my opinion it's pretty pointless to make these short cuts on the desktop when KDE has them by default as applets in the Panel.
      The advantage of the Panel is that they don't generally get covered by windows.

          Code:
          [Desktop Entry]
          Comment=Contains Removed Files
          EmptyIcon=trashcan_empty
          Encoding=UTF-8
          Icon=trashcan_full
          Name=Trash
          Name[en_US]=Trash
          OnlyShowIn=KDE
          Type=Link
          URL=trash:/
