It really comes down to what you want. Enable them or disable them. The fact that they appear on the Third-Party tab means that packages available from these repositories are not 'main-stream' to Gutsy.

My system runs fine, and I have had no trouble with Adept.

That was my real question -- I didn't know what these third-party sources were. Now I understand they are not necessary for good Adept functioning.

Stick with Linux, and you will discover that you will learn more than you ever thought you would about your OS. That isn't something that the vast majority of M$ Windoze users can/will ever say.

I know what you mean! I've only been using Kubuntu for a few weeks and I already have learned a lot, and have become totally comfortable with the operating system.

Windows is deleted from my main computer and my laptop now.

I was looking at new laptops today, and it's so nice to just look at the system components and not have to worry what version of Vista is in it!

I haven't yet dumped my M$ Vista (I'm dual booting) as I still use Quicken for managing my finances. I've looked at Linux alternatives to Quicken, but I don't like any of them. So, M$ will stay on my laptop for now.

I installed VMWare Player yesterday, and have gotten Gutsy 7.10 to run inside it as a virtual machine. Pretty cool. 8) I'm waiting on a Win XP CD from may father, which I will also set up to run under VMWare. When I have that, I'm going to ensure I can install/run Quicken from within that virtual machine. If that all goes as I expect it will, then it's going to be 'bye, bye Vista!'

why do you have gutsy running "inside" vmware player? Are you running it as host or guest? Bthw you don't need to wait for a xp cd just download a virtual xp from here:

Well, that'll still require a disc... You aren't providing the OS itself. That'd be... illegal.

I'd suggest, Snowhog, that you just start up VMware, tell it to use the CD, pop in the XP CD, and fire up the virtual machine. Installation should go fine.

Fintan - What UR is providing at that location is the an actual virtual disk file (.vdmx). You would still need to have the OS CD (or .iso file) to actually load into VMWare. I'm more than happy to wait for the CD from my dad in the mail. And, yes, I'm running Gutsy as a guest in VMWare.

SheeEttin - Which is what I'm going to do when the CD arrives.
