Flash-nonfree slight lag in sound and 25-30% CPU use (Sempron 2800)

I take it's expected behaviour using the 32-bit wrapper stuff?

I don't see that on my rig, with a Core 2 Extreme X6800, but it is a pretty potent CPU, especially since I overclocked it to 3.3GHz.

But Firefox is pretty hoggish on the resources, with or without flash. I'm not familiar with your Sempron 2800 or what to expect of it. There's a lightweight version of Mozilla called "Iceweasel" that you might want to try out and see if that makes a difference.

Also, Compiz will slow things down too, if your CPU is kinda being pushed already.

    Have you run
    Code:
    top
and observed which process(es) appear to be the major CPU hogs?

Final thought -- could the lags be due to other stuff going on with your Internet connection?

Eh, I went and installed the 32-bit Gutsy and it's pretty much the same. So maybe I'm imagining things or it was better in 7.04. :P

But I still would say the videos play smoother in 32-bit.
