Help with installation on PS3

I recently tried to install kubuntu on my PS3, i have been trying to use the install function at the k prompt. but everytime it tries to install to the hard disk (the step after partitioning the drive) i get an error msg saying there is something wrong with the linux-cell image. this also happened when i tried to install ubuntu.

i formatted my ps3 hdd, partitioned it and followed the guide at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PlayStation_3

i do get asked to look at the error log but i'm not sure how to do dat. has anyone else experienced this problem? does anyone have any advice for me?

a little update, i managed to get to the log file to take a look but it was corrupted. so now i'm stuck..

Did you pull the .iso for the LiveCD from the Testing Gutsy Gibbon section at the bottom??
I ask, as you are posting your question in the Gutsy Gibbon area of the Forum.

i downloaded Kubuntu from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/po...owerpc+ps3.iso
and i also tried Ubuntu which i downloaded from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/rele...owerpc+ps3.iso

both resulted in the same error msg occurring during the same portion of the installation process

I remember seeing the "None of these images are currently expected to work at all" message under the downloads for Kubuntu/Ubuntu/Xubuntu 8.04
