I just had what I think was a successful installation of Kubuntu 7.10. The New Edition showed up as being available in Adept and I accomplished the upgrade by that means. Everything appeared to go smoothly, and the only drag was the long download times.

Shortly after I booted into the new Gutsy kernel for the first time the Adept "Upgrades available" icon popped up. When I checked to see what upgrades were waiting, I found there were two routine upgrades available but was surprised to see that Adept also showed that the upgrade to Gutsy was also available. Now I'm not so sure the upgrade was 100% successful.

What do I have to do to get the upgrade recognized by Adept?

Exactly my situation. I did a clean install of Gutsy, and every time I boot up I get prompted for the new version. As it's been reported, I'll hang tight for now

Just ignore it. Adept is being its usual self. Install synaptic. Load it, do a package reload and you will see updatable packages under status. Click on that and you should see something like 6 packages to be updated. Do that and adept will calm down.

Adept may be great but it still has its little quirks. This is a bug and has been reported. I suppose they (the gods that are) are working on this and will fix it in time.

There are new Adept packages in gutsy-proposed that'll probably fix it.

I'm sure they will be available as updates soon (if you're not using the proposed repository, which is only recommended for testing purposes)

I've just posted this in a thread about adept crashing while trying to update :

Since this morning's update (including adept_manager and kde-core), Adept doesn't give me the option to "upgrade" anymore, and it makes sense, for I am already using Gutsy. On the other hand, it hasn't installed some Gutsy packages that were not by default in Feisty, like dolphin, strigi, gdebi, etc... now I'm stuck between those distributions.

Maybe installing kubuntu-desktop would help?

Any help would be useful...

And just in case you are interested Webmin reports the correct OS name.
