How do I get my GUI Desktop Back

I tried to reconfigure my video card and when I re-booted I only have a command line sign-in available.

How can I get my GUI Desktop back?

From there you should be able to log in as yourself. After that do this again:

    Code:
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
Choose the defaults and for the video driver, for now, choose Vesa.

Thank you. I now have a graphical login. However, when I login it goes to initializing services - fails - and then returns to login screen. Have I somehow lost the reset of my configuration? _ How do I get it back?

Hate to say, but that is a new one for me. Hopefully Dibl or QQMike might see this and know. I'll search here for something in the mean time.

            Moon Rise Thank-you thank-you thank-you.

I booted up in "recovery mode" and entered:

            aptitude remove language-pack-kde-en language-pack-kde-en-base

IT WORKED (sorry for shouting). I'm back.

Glad those posts helped!!! Don't worry about the shouting. I've done that plenty of times here when things went well.
