    7.10 on a Latitude D830, Monitor DPI

I just finished installing Kubuntu 7.10 stable on my Latitude D830. Nearly everything worked out of the box. Got the sound card working with a backport install. Had to adjust the touchpad sensitivity with some manual settings in xorg.conf. Even suspend and hibernate work. So far I'm totally impressed.

About the only issue I'm having now is that the DPI is set to 147x147. I've got he Intel gm965 x3100 card with 1920x1200 LCD. It appears to be installed with the Vesa driver. I've tried several different things to adjust the DPI and having found anything that works yet. How do you get the DPI down to 96x96? The system fonts and icons are huge! Also, has anyone had success getting the proper drivers installed for this graphics card?

    Heres my xorg.conf:

    Code:
    # xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)

Probably K Menu > System Settings > Appearance > Fonts > Force fonts DPI.

You may also want to consider installing the appropriate driver for your graphics "card", though I'm not sure which driver you want.
    For external use only.

Force DPI works. Thanks. Still no 3D accelleration. I thought about using envy to try and install the video drivers but didn't want to install all the gnome dependencies.

Re: 7.10 on a Latitude D830, Monitor DPI

The Dell Latitude D830 (assuming it is *new*) has three graphics configurations that can be ordered: NVIDIA® Quadro® NVS 140M, NVIDIA® Quadro® NVS 135M, and Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. According to the output of your xorg.conf file, you have the "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller" so why would you be considering using envy to install? Isn't the envy installer for use with NVIDIA graphics drivers?
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007

Envy works for Nvidia and ATI. I guess Intel cards aren't supported.
