kernel compile - battery module try to install?

I have GG installed on a 500 MHz PIII, and when I do an apt-get upgrade and there's a kernel update that seems to require a kernel re-compile, it tries to install a battery module, which, inevitably, fails. Is there a way to stop it trying to add the battery module?
