[Solved] Error: "The default Gateway IP address is invalid"

    Hi,
I have a problem with Marvell Yukon 88E8053 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Adapter, integrated on an ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe motherboard.

I installed Ubuntu 7.10 beta and this card does not work. I tried older versions, but still the card does not work. I tried to search on the forum and internet but it did not help.

    My /etc/network/interfaces reads as follows:

    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback

    What should I do?

Re: Marvell Yukon 88e8053 does not work

    I solved my problem!
Everything was ok, my Kubuntu recognized my NIC, the problem was I was using an IP like 192.168.0.xxx, but this linux distribution does not accept this form. I changed it to 192.168.1.xxx and it works perfectly.

That's strange, because 192.168.0.xxx works for me with 7.4 and now 7.10.

I think that the default gateway issue is a bug. When you try to get an IP address via DHCP and fail, it fills in a default gateway address of 0.0.0.0. You have to delete that o you will get the error. Changing the IPs had nothing to do with it.
