setting up thunderbird mail

im trying to setup thunderbird mail to work with opera. for when i click on a email link thunderbird will open. i have tried for the last hour and am now banging my head off the desk
can anyone help me please?

I haven't used opera for a while but if memory serves have a look here:

you will have to know the path to opera:

/usr/lib/opera/9.27-20080331.6
