    Playing audio CDs

I'm trying to play an audio CD. With Amarok, I get the following message when I select a track:
No suitable input plugin. This often means that the url's protocol is not supported. Network failures are other possible causes.
Yet I can play tracks stored on my hard drive without a problem. When I try to use xmcd the program is able to read the CD just fine -- it shows the track timing advancing -- but I get no sound.

How can I get the thing to play?

I installed both of them but it made no difference, alas. Still get the message.

I couldn't find anything there about Amarok, let alone input plugins for Amarok. Good old Google wasn't much help either -- a search on "amarok input plugin" found nothing useful, and Amarok itself doesn't seem to have anything explicit for dealing with plugins.

From the pyschocats site, this link - Enabling Extra Repositories.

Ultimately, you will (most likely) want to ensure that you have everything to play DVDs too. You can follow my link here.

Then too, review the contents of How to play MP3 files.
