Hard Disk Parking sound - Need Help urgent

Hi,

I can hear a head parking sound once in a minute in Kubuntu.

Can anybody tell me how to get rid of it? because I tried PCLOS and HDD never sound like that.

For your information I'm using Acer Laptop, with 40GB hdd and 256 mb ram

Do you hear the sound also when you enter the bios or start from a cd?

If yes
- Run diags and call Acer

If no
- When did the problem started, did you upgrade any soft and or hardware?
- Try a different kernel if you upgraded the kernel.

Had similar problem on a Dell, in my case a defective hd
