Quake3 install

Well I now have it installed but when I try to run it I get,

Anyone any ideas.

"sudo touch /usr/local/games/quake3/default.cfg"?

Install it on a Windows PC and copy the cfg, or else google for someone's cfg and put it there.

Thanks for your help, but it still wont load. Its a linux version BTW. The error is still there. Have not had any trouble running it it on Suse or Mandrake, dont know what is going on here. Anyway the error message is pretty much the same.

As you can see the default.cfg is present.

Just a thought I notice other options are usually present to start quake, eg in X11 mode etc. Dont know why the installer has not given them.

No, the error isn't there any more. Unless you didn't copy-paste all of the output, it's not giving any errors.

Oops Iĺl have another go, Iĺl also attch default.cfg renamed as default.txt

Ah, it's not looking in the right place.

Move your cfg into baseq3, and all should be well.

Install Open Arena instead. OK maybe that's not all that helpful.. but Kubuntu has it in it's repos and it's Quake 3 with a bunch of mods... and ya you could come shoot me in Urban Terror for being such a dork with this post.

Default.cfg is in baseq3 so thats not it I afraid

Umm... try putting a copy in /home/ian/.q3a/baseq3?

Try "quake3 --help" or "man quake3" to see if there's an option to specify where it is manually.

Also consider posting on the Quake forums.
