    End Process?

I recently attempted to install a virtual PC on my Kubuntu dual boot system. It downloaded perfectly and began the install. However the install was taking ages so i left my laptop overnight. I assumed the install was complete as the adept window was gone in the morning. I then decided to attempt to install another application thinking this Linux experience was becoming far easier. I was dead wrong. Now whenever i attempt to open the adept installer i get the message
Another process is using the packaging system database (probably some other adept application or apt-get or aptitude). Please close the other application before using this one.
I was unaware of any of these application being open.
I tried running the installer through the terminal and got this message. I've got know idea what it means but it may be helpful.

    Thanks for any help.

    Re: End Process?

in kde hit ctrl / esc and it will launch the process manager, use it to kill anything relating to adept / apt you should then be able to launch adept again or run apt-get update / upgrade.

      Re: End Process?

      Code:
      sudo dpkg --configure -a
      Code:
      sudo apt-get autoremove
      Code:
      sudo apt-get autoclean
      Code:
      sudo apt-get update
      Code:
      sudo apt-get install

I would nominate this problem, and solution, for the #1 Frequently Asked Question.

What for? Those in factual need would not find, let alone read such "FAQ" :P
(There are three search buttons - of which seemingly none get's ever used.)
