I have just installed Fiesty on 3 laptops for my friends. Only problem is Openoffice will not open on any of them. The splash screen comes up then goes away and the computer sits there like a paper weight.

I have unistalled and reinstalled by Adept and again via apt-get in konsole

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hardware is:

    Compaq EVO N410c
    Intel Pentium 3
    512 megs RAM
    1.3 gig processor

I am using Fiesty and openoffice on my desktop with issue so this noob is very cornfused

Open up Konsole and execute "ooffice -writer". Post the result.
    For external use only.

      Hi thanks for answering.

Here is what I received from Konsole

** (process:6005): WARNING **: Unknown error forking main binary / abnormal early exit ...

Got the same from all 3 so at least the issue appears to be consistant

          Re: Openoffice will not open

I had this problem a year or so ago. I fixed it by using adept to uninstall all the OO files. I then rebooted and reinstalled the OOfiles that I needed and that fixed the problem. If you're only going to use oo-writer, than only the files you need for that, etc. Don't forget the dictionaries, thesarus, etc. I also didn't install the OO pre-launcher, thinking that might have been part of the problem.
