are there any errors if you try running it from a terminal window? That may give a clue on what is missing/broken.

This is a shot in the dark, but I'd say it's crashing.

it is crashing, but why is the hard part. It probably is due to the application is rather old, and there have been enough changes in QT or KDE that it may be broken even after merging from the original Debian files.

Well, I discovered that you need to install the package libhamlib-dev. I did and it runs for me. Odd, as this package should only be needed to compile something from source, not run a binary.

              pure genius........

              it now works!

              thanks guys.

              i noticed that the hamlib-dev had a something usb-dev as a dependancy.
i wonder if that was the device it was looking for?

              anyhow another mystery solved.
do we need to tell anybody important about the fix?

              cheers,

              derek

p,s. now to look for some new keps

                hi all,

seems i was a bit hasty with my last post.
it runs but is unstable as a stack of CD's on the end of a broom stick.

looks like gpredict has been updated, i will see if i can make any sense of it.

                cheers.
