This is probably a REALLY stupid question, but forgive me, as this is in my first two hours of using Kubuntu, after using Windows for quite a while. How do I install Beryl? All of the installation guides I've seen so far aren't for Kubuntu, and I just have no idea how to even begin to install Beryl. I downloaded a .tar.gz and I can't make heads or tails about what I'm supposed to do with it. Can someone please walk me through this?

Re: QUESTION: how do I install Beryl?
The wiki is good.
I've just installed Beryl on a new computer with Kubuntu.
I checked (had to) quite a few sites before I had it working...
The problem was not at all Beryl but the issues with the nVidia driver needed.
I found the script from the nVidia site working fine except the instructions are rather lacking.
The main thing to remember is that the script needs to compile the driver and so you need to have the relevant Kernel sources installed, all done via Adept or whatever you prefer.
I must say Beryl is quite a feat and reasonably stable.
But when it crashes only a hard boot or ssh into the box from another computer can shut it down.
