    Help with HD Video Playback

    Hello,
    I am having a problem with playing HD videos in Kaffeine and VLC. I see a thumbnail preview, and Kaffeine plays the sound but displays a blue background, while VLC just quits. All other video formats play just fine.

    in kaffeine try setting the video output to xvshm (shim) from the xine engine parameters. doing this enabled me to play full 1080p/5.1ss content smoothly as if it was just dvd on my pc that is almost 5 years old. (P4 1.8GHz/640MBs DDR PC2100/Intel Integrated Graphics 845G). i have no clue why yet, but i plan to check it out. (something to do with xvshm [shim]).

      Thanks diturbedite.

      I did set the it to xshm and the it did play the HD video , but it degraded the quality of my regular videos so I switched back the video output, and my kaffeine crashed while trying to play the next video. Now it crashes everytime I try to change the Xine parameters or play a video. I have reinstalled xine and kaffine but nothing seems to do the trick. Could you help me out with this?
