unable to apply settings in administrator mode

I am using Kubuntu Feisty fawn and a broadband connection.

When I have booted up, the OS is NOT automatically online via broadband. I need to go to system settings / network settings and enter administrative mode. I then need to disable eth1 and thus leave me with eth0, - which gives me broadband access.

However, I cannot apply this setting – Apply – is greyed out. Thus when I reboot I need to repeat this sequence.

How can I apply this setting permanently please.

UnicornRider is having you start the KDE Control Module to configure the Network Cards.. if this is confusing to you simply

Click the K > System Settings > and Click Network Settings
        For the same results..

I should add Click on the Device and Configure
You then can add the Router ESSID and Also click Routes and add your gateway IP...

I understand a little of what you - sqlpython are saying, but I am a newbie and need you to spell it out in words that even I can understand.

I have no problem getting into Admin mode and the network interface tab, but what exactly do I do from there please.

Its the last 2 lines of your reply that has me lost.

          Thanks in advance

            K > Settings > Network & Internet > Network Settings

            A window will open with
            Available Network Interfaces
Each of these Represent a Network card Wired and WIreless.
Highlight the Interface you wish to configure..
            Then click Properties
The ESSID is your Router's Configuration Name.
To be certain as to how it identifies itself to the Network enter it's Config Page.. In a FIrefox or other Web Browser type it's IP address..given in you in your instruction manual.
