Wireless not working after Feisty install. ["Solved"]

Took the plunge and upgraded to Feisty. Everything works except for my wireless. Anybody else have this problem and have any suggestions as to how to fix?

    Thanks.

I've been messing around trying to fix this. It has started working but I have no idea what it was that I did (if I did anything) to get it to work.

What exactly do you mean? Your wireless is not recognised? You can't connect to the router?
Also, can You provide output of the following:
      1) iwconfig
      2) ifconfig
      3) lspci
This will help finding the cause of the problem. Also, can you tell whether you Access point is hidden? If so, you will have problems connecting - see bug #91009 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ols/+bug/91009)

        Cafeina -

I'm having the same problem - I can connect manually, but not automatically. lspci shows the atheros card, and I can SEE the wireless network and the SSID is not hidden.

It works - but is a pain to have to manually connect...

        any hints?

pkarza - actually if the SSID is NOT hidden, knetworkmanager connects automatically with no problems.
There are solutions to this problem:

          iwconfig Wireless-Tools version 28
Compatible with Wireless Extension v11 to v20.

Kernel Currently compiled with Wireless Extension v21.

ath0 Recommend Wireless Extension v13 or later,
Currently compiled with Wireless Extension v21

          1) Either go back to an older kernel, compiled with Wireless Extension v20 -- a bit senseless
          2) Recompile the kernel you now have with Wireless Extension v20 -- very hard to recompile (k)ubuntu kernel
          3) upgrade Wireless tools (latest version is 29 pre 17 beta http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_...9.pre17.tar.gz

            Cafeina -

That seemed to do the trick... wireless tools all the way.

            Thanks
