Final Release upgrade Question

Hi,

When Feisty Fawn is finally released can I burn it to a CD and upgrade it through the CD? Or will it just overwrite the existing installation?

For upgrades to a newer version, there are 'basically' three options:
1. Online upgrade (this includes changing the repos to the repos of the newer version, edgy-->feisty and dist-upgrade straight from the repositories).

2. CD upgrade (Download the Alternate Installer CD, add it as a repository and dist-upgrade)

3. Fresh installation (which will erase the previous installation, unless you have your /home on a separate partition that you can leave unformatted and mount as /home in the new installation, which will preserve most of your previous configurations)

The first two methods are usually the first choices, but sometimes the dist-upgrade won't go through without problems (most times problems are solvable, but may require some knowledge...or active googling). Also some people like to 'start fresh' with a new version and go with the fresh installation.
