    Shutting down while installing?

    Hi,

the topic is self-explanatory; I'm installing Kubuntu 7.04-amd64 on my computer (AMILO 1665 with a turion 64 processor) and it'll just suddenly shut down, not always at the same point. This also causes a 15 error on grub (file not found) so I had to install another linux version in order to be able to access my win xp partition again. I'm not doing anything fancy, have no idea what could be. Any hints?

    thanks

Or possibly, Advance Power Management settings in the BIOS that need to be adjusted and/or turned off for the installation.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007

Now i managed to install it in text mode, but it's still shutting down every once in a while (say, every half and hour). What can i do? How can i get to know what's wrong?

Also, is it sensible to install the 386 version instead of the amd64 to have more software compatibility? can i expect to do that without problems?
