persistent, cow not working well!

I have downloaded kubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386.iso and i like to leave the cd as is, and activating the persistent boot option! but does not work! I have inspected the initrd.gz but it seams that the persistent flag is never reader from command line !!! moreover at shutdown I read always can find cow, because is not mounted in the filesystem !!!

The developers tried to fix this but couldn't get it fixed before the release date for Feisty.
