Toshiba Laptop A135-S7406 - No Wireless

Extreme newbee... be nice or just patient.

Had no sound, had no wireless out of the box.
Got sound through web search adding to file
    /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
    options snd-hda-intel model=3stack

Works fine a little quite BUT it works.

THE REAL ISSUE, I can not seem to get wireless to work. The following are outputs from commands I have seen others request:

    default@default:~$ iwconfig
    lo no wireless extensions.

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

    default@default:~$ lsmod
    Module Size Used by
    ........
    ath_pci 97312 0
    wlan 204868 1 ath_pci

    default@default:~$ lspci
04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. Unknown device 001c (rev 01)
05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 01)

To give you an idea on what I do not know....I got lost trying to install madwifi when it said "make sure you are in the Madwifi directory." I do not know how to get there.

Any help or direction would be much appreciated. (I want this to work.)

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi d-alan,

Are you running Kubuntu 7.10? Usually this version will install your wireless driver automatically.

However, here is a good post from Ubuntu forum to guide you in setting up wireless connection:

    Hope it helps
