    sound driver for my laptop

    hi everybody,

This is my first time here. Glad I've already successfully install Kubuntu Fiesty fawn on my laptop. Everything else is fine but it seems that there's no sound coming out from my laptop. Most probably the driver is missing.

Tried searching the driver thru the internet but to no avail. My model is Compac Presario V3041tu. maybe somebody out there could give some light on this.

    Regards.

Try adding acpi=off to the end of the first uncommented kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.list which has to be edited as root:
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.20-16-generic root=UUID=a2357a43-de81-4157-91ff-4fe745f01a79 ro splash acpi=off
Save and reboot and see if this gives you working sound.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007

I'm totally new at Linux. How do you edit the kernel command line?
      Thanks!
