Is it possible to get more from my ATI Video Card

    Hi all,
I have a Dell Inspiron 6100 laptop. Here's the appropriate section of my /etc/X11/xorg.conf

    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Radeon Mobility M300]"
    Monitor "Generic Monitor"
    DefaultDepth 24
    SubSection "Display"

I would like to have more resolution choices, other than 1280x800 and I'm wondering if if I can get more from this ATI card by configuring with Envy or some other utility. I can't find any other info on monitor.
    TIA,
    Jim A.

First step is usually "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg". Make sure you have your drivers installed (e.g. fglrx).
    For external use only.

      SheeEttin,
I did the reconfigure xserver-xorg, and selected multiple resolutions, but still can't get better than 1280x800, even though the resolutions are in the modelines. I wonder if having hsync & vsync rates would help? I've search at dell and google and can't find the rates for the lcd with this laptop.

I can always fall back and try some other distros and copy the xorg.conf if I find one tha that works. But none may work.
