Upgrading to USB 2.0 on Old Machine

I have an old HP P4 that has only USB1.1 installed on it. I'd like to upgrade to a card that supports 2.0, so I can get the performance boost. I tried installing a PCI card last week, but Kubuntu wouldn't recognize it (just upgraded to Feisty). Anyone out there have any recipe for success in this kind of thing?

    Hi Zimm the Elder

Have you disable the USB in the BIOS?

I would try it. You can be having a problems using the USB PCI card if the motherboard think it is 1.0

    Good Luck
