    SOLVED::two sound cards

    I have two soundcards that I use on a daily basis. One is an intel onboard card that kubuntu (6.06) detects and uses correctly. I also have a USB headset that I use for skype that has a soundcard built into the line. I want to use the headset for skype and the onboard for everything else. I generally do ok with media players, since it's pretty easy to switch the audio output, but I'm having a heck of a time with firefox. If anyone has any knowledge pertaining to my dilemna, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

    EDIT:: unplugged the headset and rebooted. shutdown, plugged in headset, booted, and voila, firefox used the onboard sound card.

    Re: SOLVED::two sound cards

    If the problem comes back, I recommend the following the instructions on this page http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=134041

    I have 2 sound cards plus a usb cam that I use as a microphone. After a reboot the cards were sometimes correctly mapped but some other times, they were inverted. Following the procedure on this post force the mapping you decide.
