    reccomended printer driver doesn't load

I have an epson 980 printer which works fine but..., the color saturation kinda sucks. I installed the printer with CUPS+gutenprint v5.0.0-rc2 driver which is not the recomended driver (foomatic+gimpprint) because the the recommended one fails to load. I get error:

Unable to load the requested driver:
Unable to create the Foomatic driver [Epson-Stylus_Color_980,gimp-print]. Either that driver does not exist, or you don't have the required permissions to perform that operation.

Obviously I am using admin mode to install the printer through system settings, so the permissions part is not the problem. I have installed all the drivers I can find with adept and still get same message for all the available drivers except the Gutenprint v5.0.0 rc2.

I have used the gimpprint driver in the past under Libranet linux and like the quality of the printout.

Why doesn't the recommended driver work??

I tried Enlightenment once, it was pretty cool.

LinuxPrinting.org is the FIRST resort for printing problems in Linux. Their Epson Stylus Color 980 page recommends Gutenprint.
