So how would I go about setting up let's say Kmail or another such Mail program to fetch my Hotmail messages? Is there detailed insructions?

Worked great. I now have Hotmail in Linux. Another nail in the coffin for using Windows.

Now how do I add Gmail to Evolution?

I am happy you got hotmail working.

But with Gmail it is pretty straight forward, no? Just find the pop3 and smtp server data from gmail and enter that into your mail client of choice...
