    GUI Checksum checker

    Hi
I am in the process of a big download and am looking for something that will check the checksum that I can access via a GUI.

When I used Mandriva I used wxchecksum but this isn't available in adept. Anyone know of any user-friendly alternative?

    Thanks

    Ian

    Re: GUI Checksum checker

There doesn't seem to be a GUI checksum checker for (K)Ubuntu. Personally, I find the command line tools so easy to use that it never occurred to me to look for a GUI until I saw your message.

      Hi, and thanks

Actually, I did find one that suited my needs at the time - it was K3b as I was burning the download to disk.

I did try the cli apps but one of them in particular (can't remember which now) seemed to want to check the whole hard drive. Anyway, I'll give one of them a whirl when there is something I just want to install.

Given KDEs habit of building everything but the kitchen sink, you would have thought there would be a kchecksum

        There's this app: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=10205

        and this:
        http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=10840

http://www.kde-apps.org might be a good place to look for KDE apps.

        Have fun!

There's a MD5Sum HowTo on the Ubuntu Community Help site.
