I'm using amarok 1.4.3 and have installed libvisual 0.4 and plugins, xmms and a number of xmms visualizations (goom being my favorite). By all accounts, amarok is supopsed to recoginize the xmms visualizations automatically, but it isn't. My understanding is there is an xmms option when configureing for compiling from source, though I installed all using adept. Since I'm still quite a n00b, I'd prefer not to have to reinstall from souce. Is there a config file I can enable xmms in, or some other way I can get amarok to find the xmms visualizations? Sould it be able to detect the xmms visualizations automatically from a package install? Thanks a ton.

Re: amarok won't recongnize xmms visualizations
Through Adept or apt-get, you're going to get the amarok package with these options: MySQL, ipod support, XINE engine. Compiling amarok from source is easy. Download the tar package, extract it, then runThis will tell you what you can enable. You can enable XMMS that way. It's the only option you have if you want to use XMMS as far as I know. I compiled this 1.4.3 from source, before I realized that the packages through Adept or apt-get finally are compiled with the options I want. In amarok under Settings -> Configure Amarok then on the Engine Tab, if you don't have the option to go to XMMS, you you'll have to find the debian package with XMMS built in, or compile it from source.Code:./configure --help
