/opt question

how can i access my /opt folder and past to it?
the reason i want to do this is so that i can run my xampp. when i try to paste to the htdocs folder it says i need special permissions. how can i set these permissions. any help is very much appreciated.

/opt is a directory owned by root. To copy anything to it, you must do so as root.
