2 problems - java JRE 1.5, and installing .tar

2 quick and (hopefully) simple questions:

First off, I've been trying to get frostwire working. I have it installed, but when I try to run it from the konsole, I get this
    Starting FrostWire...
Java exec found in PATH. Verifying...
OOPS, you don't seem to have a valid JRE. FrostWire works best with Sun JRE available at http://www.java.com
OOPS, unable to locate java exec in /usr/lib/ hierarchy
You need to upgrade to JRE 1.5.x or newer from http://www.java.com
ls: /usr/java/j*: No such file or directory
OOPS, unable to locate java exec in /usr/java/ hierarchy
You need to upgrade to JRE 1.5.x or newer from http://www.java.com
ls: /opt/j*: No such file or directory
OOPS, unable to locate java exec in /opt/ hierarchy
You need to upgrade to JRE 1.5.x or newer from http://www.java.com
When I first got this message I went into adept and installed sun JRE 6. Despite having it installed, I still have the same error. Any idea what I need to do to get frostwire working?

Secondly, I'm trying to install firefox 2.0. I installed 1.5 through adept, but there's some pluging that i'd like to install for firefox, but I need 2.0 to use them. I downloaded the .tar.gz file to my desktop, and followed these directions. I didn't have build-essential installed, so I installed it through adept. I extracted the file to my desktop, then in the konsole I navigated into the folder I extracted the .tar.gz file to. This is what I get:
    don@don-desktop:~/Desktop$ cd /home/don/Desktop/firefox
    don@don-desktop:~/Desktop/firefox$ ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
    don@don-desktop:~/Desktop/firefox$
I've got a feeling that it's got to do with something missing in build-essential, but I'm not sure where/what to look for.

    Any help would be great.

I dare to say that Frostwire is looking for Java in the wrong places ...

You may check where Java actually is located and point Frostwire there.

It says it found Java exec in "PATH". I tried moving java to one of the directories that it's looking in (/usr/lib/ and /opt/). When I did that, and tried running Frostwire, I got the same error, but it said "java exec NOT found in path". That means that it was looking in the right place, right? It seems it hangs up when trying to verify it.

How would I go about pointing Frostwire in the right direction?
