I installed the dapper edition and everything was going fine untill i ran the update thing and it updated the kernel from 2.6.15-26 to 2.6.15-27. My wireless card a Netgear WG311T (ath0) was not showing up on the new one so i used grub to boot into the older version and it worked fine. Now neither kernel is working any ideas ?

sorry it bit you too. i filed a bug report long time ago about it. many users were harmed by it. search the forum posts and hopefully, you will find a work around. in fact, i think if it is possible to search users posts, you should be able to find a long running post about this and learn how other users got past it.
