My network card (as shown in Windows) is and Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG, but lspci isn't recognizing it, and it will not work. Anything I can do to rectify (force load the driver, maybe? -If that's possible). My absense is killing me... :P

Re: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG help
have it. I have the complete linux-686 (which provides restricted modules).Originally posted by hausifor this card to work you need to install the restricted modules (linux-restricted-modules-<your-kernel-version>-386)

I'll post some more output in hopes someone might be able to help.
LSPCI:
I'm pretty sure the device is the network controller, but neither the ethernet controller, nor the network controller are recognized by lspci, so I'm not too sure.Code:0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) 0000:00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 0000:00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 0000:00:1b.0 0403: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) 0000:00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 02) 0000:00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 02) 0000:00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI #1 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI #2 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI #3 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI #4 (rev 02) 0000:00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02) 0000:00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev e2) 0000:00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 02) 0000:00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7 Family) Serial ATA Storage Controllers cc=IDE (rev 02) 0000:00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 02) 0000:05:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation: Unknown device 4222 (rev 02) 0000:07:06.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments: Unknown device 8039 0000:07:06.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments: Unknown device 803a 0000:07:06.2 Mass storage controller: Texas Instruments: Unknown device 803b 0000:07:06.3 0805: Texas Instruments: Unknown device 803c 0000:07:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation: Unknown device 1092 (rev 02)

I'm going to upgrade to Edgy (as my ethernet works, but I need the wireless as the ethernet is only going to be here for a short time). I'll post back (what hopefully will be a success story).Code:Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.0.3 Copyright 2004-2005 Internet Systems Consortium. All rights reserved. Re: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG help
Posting from the edgy live CD right now. I must say, I am impressed! This laptop is new, and Edgy correctly identifies the wireless card as:
But, it doesn't work. Though in the Wireless assistant, when I search, I do find SSIDs. Maybe theres a problem with me? I'm used to Atheros cards, which I've never had any problems with. I'm trying to connect to my router right now with the Wireless Assistant, but it keeps failing. WIll install Edgy sometime this week, and get 686 (looks like its obsoleted by a generic kernel now) and (hopefully) get this wireless working.Code:05:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Unknown device 1040 Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 185 Region 0: Memory at da000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] Capabilities: <access denied>
EDIT IN MID-WRITE: I played around in System Settings (systemsettings) and I manually set the ESSID to rollinthunda (name of my wireless connection. Cool, huh?), and BANG! It works!
edit: had to bold the solution!

Re: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG help
i also have a ipw2945 card. when i first started using kubuntu, it worked one day and the next it didnt. it was rather strange but a reinstalled fixed it. thats probably not what you want to do because you probably have some stuff u wanna save. If you decide to update to edgy than i would suggest this meathod to managing wireless and all networks in general. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...6188&page=2#12
follow that howto and everything should work fine.
