Network controller: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 4311 (rev 01)

I have read countless ideas on the Ubuntu forum but do not see much on the Kubuntu forums about this Network controller: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 4311 (rev 01).

I am getting really cheesed off I have spent the past 2 1/2 months trying to get this thing to work.

I guess the first problem I have is that even after I have tried several of the walk throughs my (?) kernel does not recognize what the device is.

So does any one have any ideas? I am trying to get rid of my work laptop and run off my Linux based system. This is my way of convincing the students and faculty at my college of the joys of Linux but I cannot really do this with out the wireless card.

did you try this one http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25683&page=1
    or the bcm43xx-firmware package?

    [edit]
i might have the same problem like you (even the tuts didn't work for me); if i had known this before i should have choosen the intel wireless lan card and not dell (with damn broadcom chipset)... but it's always afterwards when you can learn from such things...
