wireless does not start on boot

this is my 2nd day in linux, and if it weren't for my consulting biz, well, i already have the mind to dump windows perm-like. this is swwweet.

anyway, i really have 2 problems, but they might be related. tor won't start. but like the firewall that won't start on bootup, could it be caused by the fact that i have yet to figure out how to get this pc to connect on boot?

right now i have to goto 'internet'/'wireless assistant' and start the service manually.

but after that, tor still won't start using either the run command or the 'system settings' gui - well, it did once. but i can't reproduce tor starting again.

    what am failing to see?

    thanks in advance.
