log on to a windows desktop server

I wonder if I can log on to an extern server with windows as operativ system and use this desktop if I install linux? I got the feeling more for ubuntu than kubuntu, is there any differences if I can log on an external keyboard with windows?
My laptop use windows xp , but I got an iMac as well. I just use the laptop if I have to, and that is when I have to log on to a external keyboard, related to job. I will be trilled for any answer.

    Hi, solg,
Are you talking about a server on your network (Home or Office)? Or a server on the internet? If you are talking about a server on your home or office network, you can install the smb4k package. I use smb4k to access my server (which runs Windows 2000 Pro) on my home network. It works fine. You can get smb4k through Adept Manager. If you are talking about accessing a server over the internet, I cann't help you there.
