Using the Live CD, trying to connect to the to the net via my router at 192.168.1.1, I get this error telling me that 192.168.1.1 is not a valid default gateway IP address. Any suggestions?

Are you setting your IP address manually or getting it via DHCP?
If you set it yourself, make sure to stay in the network 192.168.1. -

I set IP addresses manually on my LAN. This is on new hardware with an Intel D945GCcr mobo with integrated 10/100 nic. Trying to set the IP of this new box to 192.168.1.15. Netmask 255.255.255.0. My router is at 192.168.1.1 and I've always used that IP as my default gateway when setting up new computers.Comment
