    Some things I found irritating during the install process - Kubuntu 64 bit

    1. Every single partition HAS to have a mount point. There were partitions i didn't want to have mount points but the install process would not continue until I had reassigned the mount points i had removed (manual edit of partitions).

    2. It didn't ask if I wanted it to install a bootloader and did that automatically. It's one of the things i hate very much about Windows No OS should feel it can assume that it knows how I want to setup my system.

    My seem minor but it is things like that can make a difference.

    Did you use the DesktopCD installer?

    The Alternate Install CD should give you a bit more control over the installation

    Alternate install CD
    The alternate install CD allows you to perform certain specialist installations of Kubuntu. It provides for the following situations:
    setting up automated deployments;
    upgrading from older installations without network access;
    LVM and/or RAID partitioning;
    installing GRUB to a location other than the Master Boot Record;
    installs on systems with less than about 192MB of RAM.
    The Alternate Install CD is available from the download section of www.kubuntu.org, for example
