How to get a Network activity icon to show

How do I get an icon that shows network activity? I don't need statistics, I just want to see when there's activity (or lack thereof) on the connection.

Apparently this isn't part of the initial setup and I can't find a way to enable an icon.

    Any clues

You might want to look into superkaramba http://netdragon.sourceforge.net/ -- a widget framework...some of those widgets will do what youwant.
Or try KNemo, which is in the repositories.
Dont pretend you havent noticed my cardboard box, Julia, because I know you have!

I use knetload (network monitor) right click on the panel> add application to panel> internet > KnetLoad.

I assume that you have knetload installed.

I hope that it may help you.

I'd go with KNemo, if all you want to see is whether there's activity or not. KNetLoad does more than that, if that's what you want.
