kernel panic error while installing kubuntu

Hi all,

I want to install Kubuntu 6.06 to my system but I took the error: " Kernel panic- not syncing: Attempted to kill init". How can I fix this error? Are there any body had this error before and fixed it?

I searched in google and found that I should type "noapic nolapic" in kernel prompt but I don't know how. I use lilo and I think I may change some parameters in the lilo.conf file. Do you have ani idea?

Hi,

If it's during install, you should check on boot time, when you're choosing to install or the live cd, then go in help menus and it's written somewhere if I remember well.

I solved this problem in this way: When the install option is selected inthe installation menu I pressed F6 and added "acpi=off noapic nolapic" to the boot options. Then the live CD worked fine.
